iciHaiti - Justice : 70th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights
At the invitation of the President of the Senate, Joseph Lambert, the Ambassador of the European Union to Haiti, Vincent Degert participated last week in the launching of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights.

A week of cultural activities and debates around the Declaration is organized for the occasion in partnership with the UN family (Minusjusth, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNESCO), the Haitian State (Government, Parliament, Judiciary and OPC) and several civil society organizations, culminating in the ceremony of Monday, December 10, anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.

About twenty activities are planned in four departments of the country : exhibitions of photos of texts and illustrations, writing competitions for young people, theater-forum shows, conference-debates and artistic activities.

A tribute will also be paid to Émile St-Lôt who was the Haitian contributor to this founding Declaration.

Document founding, the most translated in the world and available in more than 500 languages, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaims the inalienable rights of each individual as a human being, without distinction of any kind, including race, color, sex, language, religion, political opinion or any other opinion of national or social origin, fortune, birth or any other situation.
