The 200 agents of the Haitian Coast Guard, a specialized unit of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) have little means to ensure the safety of ships, port facilities and 1500 km of coastline Haitian.

These agents, whose training is provided to 80% by the United States must fight against illegal trafficking (human (trafficking, drugs and arms), smuggling, illegal trips and illegal fishing in addition to ensure the protection of marine natural resources in addition to intervening in search operations and the rescue of victims at sea.

The financial resources, manpower, material and logistical equipment, are defects to the Haitian Coast Guard to fulfill their mission correctly. This specialized unit only has 4 boats of 40 feet, offered by Canadian cooperation more than 10 years ago, which are today in poor condition and which operate with difficulties, not allowing to protect seriously and effectively the 1,500 km of Haitian coastline.
