Fort-Liberté : Installation of Mgr. Louis-Jean, new Bishop of the diocese
On Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Cathedral of Saint-Joseph in Fort-Liberté, Minister of Foreign Affairs Raina Forbin, accompanied by Joël Turenne, Director General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Zénas Pierre, Departmental Director of Religious Affairs for the Northeast, attended the solemn installation mass for His Excellency Bishop Jean-Pierre Sander Louis-Jean, the new Bishop of the Diocese of Fort-Liberté. This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the life of the Diocese of Fort-Liberté. With the installation of Bishop Louis-Jean, who succeeds Bishop Quesnel Alphonse, a new chapter begins in the pastoral mission of the Church within this region. In his homily, the new Bishop focused on the theme "To Love and to Serve" inviting the faithful to cultivate a spirit of fraternity, solidarity, and charity, with a special concern for the most vulnerable. On this occasion, Minister Raina Forbin extends her warm congratulations to the new Bishop, wishing him a fruitful episcopal ministry—one marked by wisdom, humility, and dedication in his service to the Church, the community of Fort-Liberté, and Haiti.
