iciHaïti - Cinema : «Douvan jou ka levé» by Gessica Généus wins the FIFAC Grand Prize
Friday evening in Saint-Laurent du Maroni, French Guiana, during the award ceremony of the International Documentary Film Festival Amazon Caribbean (FIFAC), the director Gessica Généus won the Grand Jury Prize for her documentary film of 52 mn "Douvan jou ka leve" (the day will rise).

In this intimate story, the director sets off in the footsteps of her mother, who is suffering from a serious mental illness. In her journey through the churches and religious ceremonies in Haiti, her encounters with her family and her friends, Gessica Généus tries to understand how her own mother was able to sink "Through this movie I seek to understand this form of cultural polarity expressed mainly through our spirituality by relying on my personal journey, marked by my mother's mental illness" A disease that she believes is a curse of voodoo spirits.

This is the 8th prize that Gessica Généus wins for "Douvan jou ka leve"
