iciHaiti - Environment : Restoration of wooded areas and mangroves
One of the components of the Project « Solutions to climate change in the Carrefour / Léogâne watershed », carried out in partnership with Caritas Switzerland and funded by the European Union to the tune of 1 million euros from the 10th European Fund for Development https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29996-haiti-europe-$1m-euros-for-a-clean-energy-project-for-cooking.html , concerns the development of restoration plans for wooded areas and mangroves.

This component of the Project aims to make farmers and fishermen aware of the challenges linked to climate change. Plant species produced in nurseries by Peasant Associations of the 2nd section of Petite Rivière (Bagadère locality) and planted after 6 months of maturity, improve the quality of wooded areas and mangroves.

Two nurseries are already operational, others are planned in the future and will be created from the tax that will be levied at the time of the marketing of energy-efficient stoves and "pellets" (small cylindrical sticks from the compaction of sawmill residues, sawdust and shavings), another component of this Project https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29996-haiti-europe-$1m-euros-for-a-clean-energy-project-for-cooking.html
