iciHaiti - Diaspora : Eudson Tyson Francois, Haitian-American, candidate senator in district 38 (NY)
The Haitian-American Eudson Tyson Francois, Councilor of Spring Valley County of Rockland (New York State), announced that he officially entered the race of the Primary Democrats as candidate senator for the seat of the 38th district of the Senate of New York, left vacant by Senator David Carlucci. Recall that the 38th district of New York State includes the town of Ossining and the villages of Briarcliff Manor and Ossining.

François, who is entering his 3rd year on the board of Spring Valley, was elected for the first time in 2017. Born in Haiti, François arrived in the United States in 1984 and became an American citizen. Its history is similar to many in Spring Valley, which is home to a large Haitian community. If elected, François could become the first black Haitian-American senator in the history of Rockland County.

"Being able to make history and show Haitian children in our community that someone who looks like them can become a Senator is not lost on me. It means a lot," declard François emphasizing that he was fighting for more affordable housing, the rights of tenants, services for the homeless, affordable health care, the rights of the elderly, lower taxes, increased funding for schools and ensuring equal pay for all genders.
