iciHaiti - Cooperation : Swiss support to the Haitian government
Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities, received the Ambassador of Switzerland accredited to Haiti, Geneviève Federspiel.

During this courtesy visit, the Swiss diplomat presented Switzerland’s main support programs to the Haitian government, particularly in the area of strengthening territorial administration and local governance.

During this meeting, emphasis was placed in particular on the challenges of territorial economic governance and the contribution of Switzerland, at the level of certain communes in the Great South, where it already intervenes. In addition, Ambassador Federspiel called for improving cooperation and developing constructive and lasting partnerships between municipalities and foreign partners in general, including Switzerland in particular.

For his part, Minister Cadet expressed the will of the Haitian government to ensure the sustainability of its collaboration with Switzerland and all international partners. It also undertook to mobilize the technical directorates and the relevant units of the Ministry of the Interior, in order to better articulate, within the framework of decentralized cooperation, the responses to the requests expressed by the Embassy of Switzerland. He also reaffirmed his willingness to work for the development of communities and for better availability of basic social services to communities.
