Friday afternoon, under the instructions of President Jovene Moïse, and shortly after the launch of operations https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30375-haiti-politic-prelude-to-the-possible-measures-of-containment-of-the-population.html by Nicole Yolette Altidor the Minister of Social Affairs, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund started operations to distribute food kits in the metropolitan region of Lakou Malo, Butte Boyer, Cité ti Baka in Tabarre, Damien/Saint-Etienne and Village Zoranje in Cité Soleil, as a prelude to possible population containment measures to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

This distribution is carried out door-to-door in order to restrict movement of the population and to directly reach families who are in difficult situation in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, said Charles Ernets Chatelier, the Director General of FAES who specifies that this distribution concerns in a first phase the elderly and disabled as well as nursing mothers who are in extreme poverty https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30387-haiti-covid-19-daily-bulletin-march-28-2020.html

On Saturday, the FAES teams, accompanied by agents of the Haitian National Police (PNH), spared no effort in delivering food kits to the doors of every citizen in precarious situations. After Tabarre and Cité Soleil it was the turn of the commune of Delmas to receive thousands of kits.

Operations will continue throughout the national territory to reach a maximum number of households.
