"Shadow and light : Haitian painting of yesterday and today" is the brand new exhibition mounted at the Gallery of the Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH). This exhibition of landscapes, flowers, faces and portraits of women associates, in a meticulous way, the works of Haitian artists of different tendencies and generations whose fame goes beyond national borders. One can appreciate there : the expressionist painting of Dieudonné Cédor, Luckner Lazard and Roland Dorcely; figurative art by Gesner Armand, Tamara Baussan, Similien Emilcar and Alix Roy; surrealist works by Lionel Laurenceau, Jean René Jérôme, Albert Desmangles, Jacques Egueran Gourgues and Philippe Dodard and also the hyperrealist painting of Mario Béjamin. The school of beauty, which marked a highlight in the evolution of Haitian painting, is represented in this exhibition by its supporters : Jean René Jérôme, Bernard Séjourné and Jean Claude Legagneur. The works on display come largely from the Museum's Art collection and private collections. IH/ iciHaiti
