Garnel Michel Coordinator of the Haitian organization Technical and Operational Services to Stop Accidents (STOP-Accidents), informs us that for the week of August 17 to 23, 2020, 37 accidents on the national territory (-7.1%) compared to to the previous week https://www.icihaiti.com/article-31567-icihaiti-securite-routiere-hausse-de-55-des-accidents-en-une-semaine.html made at least 119 victims (+15 , 5%): 12 dead (+ 29.4%) and 107 injured (+ 24.4%), several of them seriously.

Pont blanc (Milot), Cange, Montagne noire, Dilaire (Ouanaminthe), Christ-roi, Nazon, Delmas 75, Marigot, Limbé, rue Capois (Port-au-Prince), Vivy Mitchell, Gressier among others, are the main communes and areas where these accidents were recorded.

Remember that this weekly report was carried out in partnership with the National Ambulance Center (CAN) and the Haitian Red Cross. However, due to lack of resources STOP-Accident is unable to monitor the state of health of the injured, some of whom die as a result of their injuries and are not counted.

STOP-Accidents, reiterates its call for caution on our roads and urges the Government to strengthen prevention measures and to set up a systematic vehicle inspection service.
