"[...] 1.- The companies align themselves with the principle that the gourde is the currency of price display throughout the national territory in accordance with the Constitution and undertake to take all the necessary measures so that the prices are displayed in gourde, under the terms of this Memorandum of Understanding and subject to the stabilization of the exchange rate in a reasonable and predictable manner. 2.- The Government undertakes to continue along the path aimed at tightening public spending and improving State revenues, in order to limit the monetary financing of the budget deficit and thus contain inflation and exchange rate instability. 3.- Special considerations will be considered with regard to the currency denominated in the contracts, for example for the Insurance sector and that of Tourism, while being understood that payments made under these contracts may, at at the request of the payer, to be in gourdes. 4.- Discussions at the highest level will be initiated on reforms aimed at reducing the weight of State subsidies in the various sectors concerned, a burden which weighs very heavily on the national budget. 5.- Arrangements will be made to establish a permanent dialogue between the Government and the private sector on the accompanying measures to be taken for each sector.
