Bruno Lemarquis, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator spoke this week with Mrs. Soinette Désir, Secretary of State for the Integration of People with Disabilities.

During this meeting, it was discussed, among other things, the possibility of developing a project for the benefit of people with disabilities and initiating a partnership with the 18 United Nations agencies on the implementation of actions for the benefit of people in need. special measures for the full respect of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Access to education for people with disabilities was also discussed as well as the application of the Guide to "Inclusive Risk and Disaster Management" in order to provide assistance, in times of crisis, to people with disabilities.

Lemarquis also pledged his collaboration for the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3.
