iciHaiti - ALERT : Floods, risk of landslides in Cap-Haitien

The Town Hall of Cap-Haitien reminds the Capoise population in general and the inhabitants of risk areas in particular that during the passage of the frontal system which has been causing intense and persistent rains for 48 hours in the region, it is advisable to leave areas at risk of flooding as quickly as possible to go to the usual temporary shelters. They are also advised to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions until further notice.

The fishermen are obliged to leave the sea because of the strong swells, families to effectively supervise children, to assist people with reduced mobility and the elderly.

Heavy rains have already affected several main streets in the city of Cap Haitien and the districts of Blue-Hills, Haut du Cap, Petite Anse, Charrier, Zo-Vincent Cité du Peuple, Fort Saint Michel, Bas-Champin have been flooded.

According to the weather forecast, heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in the North until Wednesday with risks of floods, floods, landslides. Civil Protection and Fire Brigade as well as municipal authorities are mobilized to face any challenges.
