iciHaiti - USA : The Ambassador of the United States in Haiti is leaving

US Democratic President Joe Biden has appointed US Ambassador to Haiti Michèle Jeanne Sison as Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs. An appointment that must be confirmed by the US Senate before his effective departure.

Sison, a career diplomat, was appointed by Donald Trump and has served in Haiti as the United States Ambassador since 2018. Prior to arriving in Port-au-Prince, she served as the United States' Deputy Representative to the United Nations with the rank of Ambassador (2014 to 2018).

Previous posts she has held include : serving as US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Maldives, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates; Deputy Head of Mission in Iraq and Pakistan. At the State Department, she served as Senior Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs. She has experience in building global coalitions, transnational threats, peacekeeping, international development and humanitarian aid.

She has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Award and the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award.
