In the special official journal N°37 dated Wednesday July 7, 2021 was published a decree declaring from Thursday July 8 to Thursday July 22, 2021, days of national mourning in tribute to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Jovenel Moïse, assassinated in his private residence on July 7, 2021

Considering the assassination of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Jovenel MOÏSE, in his private residence, in Pèlerin 5 July 7, 2021, around one (1) in the morning.

Considering that the death of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Jovenel MOÏSE, represents an enormous loss for the Republic;

Considering that it is necessary for the national community to pay a well-deserved tribute to this great statesman;

Considering that it is appropriate, for this purpose, to declare Thursday 8, Friday 9, Saturday 10, Sunday 11, Monday 12, Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, Thursday 15, Friday 16, Saturday 17, Sunday 18, Monday 19, Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 July 2021, days of national mourning in tribute to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Jovenel MOÏSE;

Considering that in the event of vacancy of the Presidency of the Republic either by resignation, dismissal, death or in the event of duly established permanent physical or mental incapacity, the Council of Ministers, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, exercise the Executive Power until the election of another President;

On the report of the Minister of Justice and Public Security:

Article 1 - Thursday 8. Friday 9. Saturday 10, Sunday 11. Monday 12. Tuesday 13. Wednesday 14, Thursday 15. Friday 16. Saturday 17, Sunday 18. Monday 19. Tuesday 20. Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 July 2021. are declared days of national mourning, in tribute to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Jovenel MOÏSE, assassinated in his private residence, at Pèlerin 5, on July 7, 2021, around one (1) in the morning.

Article 2.- During these fifteen (15) days of mourning, the national flag will be half-masted, discotheques and other similar establishments will remain closed, and radio and television stations are invited to program programs and music from circumstance.

Article 3.- This Decree will be printed, published and executed for legal purposes.
