Friday about fifty heavily armed individuals, members of the Village-de-Dieu and Grand-Ravine gangs landed in Mariani with the aim of expanding their territory and taking control of the market and one of the most important slaughterhouses in Haiti.

Thanks to the intervention of the police, their attempt failed. 7 people were killed (6 residents and 1 off-duty police officer) in the clashes between members of the Village-de-Dieu and Grand-Ravine gangs and those of the "Tibwa" gang who defended their territory dearly .

In addition, 3 bandits were killed during the exchange of fire with the police and 6 other bandits were arrested.

On Saturday the police were looking for several bandits still present in Mariani.
