This Committee brings together people from several disciplinary fields in the human and social sciences and pure and applied sciences, including medicine, agricultural sciences, linguistics, philosophy, geography, theology, among others. This diversity reflects the nature of the projects that the Committee will have to evaluate.

The Research Ethics Committee is a multidisciplinary committee that ensures the safety and well-being of participants in research projects. It ensures that the research is carried out in accordance with the standards that are consensus in the academic and scientific community with regard to respect for the human person, the identity and the physical, mental and emotional integrity of the subjects, including laboratory animals.

The CER/UEH is also an advisory committee reporting directly to the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research.
