Since March 2021, the private Haitian company Sunrise Airways, based in Port-au-Prince, has served the city of Les Cayes. In one year, connections have gone from 3 flights per week to 3 flights per day and have allowed more than 40,000 passengers to connect the capital of the South department.

"In one year, the connection to Les Cayes has experienced phenomenal growth," explains Philippe Bayard, President of Sunrise Airways, visiting Les Cayes for the occasion. "Today, nearly 200 passengers travel daily, or more than 26,000 passengers in both directions between March and December 2021.

Business trips and humanitarian links have been facilitated by the company's efforts over the past year, but for the inhabitants of these two cities and of the entire peninsula, these air links have above all enabled an essential human reconnection of families with their parents from the metropolis or the diaspora.

Sunrise Airways should continue to develop routes to the South by opening a new route in the coming weeks. To be continued...
