iciHaiti - Politic : The situation in Haiti does not allow medium or long term agreement with the DR

Roberto Álvarez the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs declared this week that the socio-political and economic situation in Haiti does not allow the Dominican Republic to establish agreements to improve relations between the two Nations.
Álvarez clarified that given the transitory nature of the Haitian authorities, the policy of the Dominican Republic is to maintain "good neighborly" relations, adding "Negotiations are underway, but they have not yet materialized..."
Chancellor Álvarez pointed out that as long as the situation in Haiti has not returned to normal it is "very difficult" for the Dominican Republic to establish medium or long-term agreements with the Haitian Government while emphasizing "even if the two countries have good relations."
