iciHaiti - Dom. Republic : 10th edition of the Haitian Diaspora Week

From Monday, April 18 to 24, 2002, the 10th Edition of the Diaspora Week will take place in the Dominican Republic, under the coordination of the Zile Foundation, around the theme "Haiti and the Dominican Republic : sovereign, independent and united for a better island". in which the Haitian and Dominican authorities will participate.

The event will be chaired by Judith Nazareth Auguste, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) in office since November 2021, for whom this will be the first official visit to the Dominican Republic and the first contact with the important Haitian community estimated has more than 500,000 members of which only 31,000 residing in the Dominican territory have a regular migratory situation according to Enrique Garcia, head of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM). Minister Auguste is accompanied by the Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic Smith Augustin.

This event aims to strengthen the ties between the two peoples and to make visible the contribution of migrants in the two countries (6,000 Dominicans live in Haiti)

More than 25 activities (face-to-face and virtual) involving various personalities and entities, which contribute to the strengthening of relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic will take place in Santo Domingo, Santiago, Barahona and San Cristóbal, many of which will be broadcast on social networks .
