iciHaiti - France : Unveiling of a plaque in memory of Placide Louverture (Video)
Thanks to the initiative in March 2022 of the Canadian writer Gabriel Osson who had launched a campaign to finance commemorative plaques "to perpetuate the memory of this black family deported to France in a world of whites in the era of slavery", plaques in memory of the adopted son (Placide Louverture), of "Toussaint Louverture" Father of the independence of Haiti, were unveiled on Saturday November 5, 2022 in Astaffort in Aquitaine (France).

These plaques commemorate the memory of Placide Louverture, his wife Joséphine de Lacaze and his daughter Zora Rose.

The event was organized in collaboration with members of "Tourisme Astaffort en Bruhlois" and the "Commission d'Histoire et Patrimoine d'Astaffort" in the presence of local elected officials, dignitaries from the region, the public and descendants of Rose Louverture.

The writer Gabriel Osson, who is working on writing a historical novel on the little-known story of Suzanne Louverture and her sons deported in 1803 to Agen, in the South West of France, will give a conference in Canada on Suzanne Simon Baptizes Louverture under the aegis of the Toronto History Society on December 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the "Alliance française".
