iciHaiti - Culture : Haitian Creole official language on the territory with French
Haiti wants the Creole language to really become an official language on its territory with French, as explained in Madrid the Ambassador of Haiti to Spain, Louis Marie Montfort Saintil underlining "education is a very important factor in the learning any language" recalling "[...] all Haitians speak Creole, but not all Haitians speak French."
Although the Haitian Constitution of 1987 recognizes two official languages for the promulgation of texts of laws, French and Haitian Creole "Until today, there is a lot of work that the academy, the Creole Academy, has done, but there is still a lot to do so that we can use Creole as a language..." added Monfort.
Luna Gourgue, Executive Secretary of the Haitian Creole Academy thanked the schools, universities and institutions that use Creole daily and as a sign of gratitude, presented the Ambassador with a plaque for his commitment to the dissemination of the Creole language.
