iciHaiti - Politic : Diplomatic Mission of Canada in Haiti

On Wednesday, December 7, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, announced in a press release that Canada will lead a diplomatic mission to Haiti from December 7 to 9, 2022. This mission will complement the virtual meetings and discussions taking place in parallel.

The mission, led by Bob Rae, Ambassador of Canada to the United Nations, aims to foster greater unity among key stakeholders in favor of a political path and process for democratic elections.

As part of this diplomatic mission, Ambassador Rae will also consult with high-level political figures, members of civil society, the United Nations and other key actors on options to support Haitian-led efforts to dealing with humanitarian and security crises, and the role Canada could play in the international response.

The international community has an important role to play in responding to the humanitarian and security crises in Haiti.

Canada's efforts will continue to support solutions proposed by Haitians to restore access to essential goods and services, and will build on our long-standing commitment.
