In December 2022 alone, 20,297 irregular migrants, the vast majority from Ecuador (7,864) and Haiti (5,459) entered Panama illegally.
Should be noted that in 2022, the Republic of Panama recorded a historic flow of irregular migrants of 248,284 people [150,327 Venezuelans, 29,399 Ecuadorians, 22,392 Haitians, 5,961 Cubans, 5,064 Colombians, 4,091 Hindus, 2,465 Dominicans and 28,585 of other nationalities], a figure that far exceeds the record of 2021 when a flow of 133,726 people had been recorded.
