Ulrika Richardon Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations at the end of a joint mission in the Artibonite of the UN agencies of the Representatives of the international community, and in particular of the important donors for Haiti, declared "Insecurity and instability have a devastating impact on all aspects of life for the inhabitants of Artibonite [...] Hospitals are partially functioning. There is a lack of water, a lack of inputs, a lack of staff, many schools have had to close their doors because of this situation."

Farmers already impacted by the drought are victims of insecurity which prevents them from accessing the main market, the capacity to be able to sell their products is very limited.

She reminded the Representatives of the international community, and in particular donors, that the United Nations seeks to mobilize for a Humanitarian Response Plan, $720 million for Haiti this year https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39364-haiti-un-humanitarian-response-plan-of-720-million-dollars-all-the-details-report.html , to reach 3.2 million people in urgent need stressing that in this context the Artibonite counted a lot as a strategic department and breadbasket for Haiti on the agricultural level "We need to work together to provide assistance, to find a long-term solution," indicates the mission.
