Thursday August 17, 2023, Jerry Chandler the Director General of Civil Protection (DGPC), announced that measures have been taken at the level of several public entities to address the recent humanitarian crisis, resulting from the massive influx of internally displaced persons in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince during a press conference.

Through the DGPC, several emergency actions are underway with the help of partners, including the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Communication, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) the Ministry for the Status of Women and the Haitian Red Cross who participate, each at their level and according to the degree of responsibility, in the efforts aimed at supporting the displaced persons of Carrefour Feuilles and other areas of the country, while ensuring the availability of the mobile canteen, drinking water, basic sanitation services in order to avoid any spread of bacterial diseases including cholera, Chandler said.
