iciHaiti - Justice : Statement by PM a.i. Henry at the ceremony of resumption of judicial work
Monday October 2nd, 2023, in accordance with the provisions of the decree of August 22, 1995, the traditional ceremony for the resumption of the 2023-2023 judicial year took place, at the premises of the Court of Cassation, in the presence in particular of the Prime Minister a.i. Ariel Henry and executives of the judicial system.

Extracts from the intervention of PM Ariel Henry :

"[...] I am counting on all of you who contribute, at any level, to the distribution of justice to do everything possible so that our compatriots can say with pride that they have confidence in the justice of their country. And better yet, that none of them are ever tempted to take the law into their own hands again.

[...] It is urgent to strengthen the courts to put an end to impunity and preventive detention which is taking on alarming proportions and leaves room for arbitrary practices. The figures for prolonged pretrial detention are still too high, despite the efforts underway to alleviate this major problem.

[...] I remind you that the Rule of Law, which we all dream of, will not see the light of day, without a strong, balanced, equitable, impartial justice that meets the demands of the Haitian Nation

[...] I invite you to respect the ethical and deontological principles characterizing the exercise of your profession as a Magistrate which requires you to agree to provide, on a daily basis, the necessary effort to ensure justice triumphs."
