iciHaiti - Dajabón Border : The Dom. Rep. reopens its pedestrian gate, Haiti closes its own

To allow Haitian nationals who wish to cross to the Dajabón border market to purchase food products and other goods, the Directorate General of Immigration (DG) opened the door of the pedestrian crossing which gives access to the commercial area.

Despite the desire of the Dominican authorities to allow market access to Haitians, Haiti remains opposed to a gradual reopening of the border and to restrictive measures on the free movement of people and goods and the refusal to grant visas to Haitians, as a sign of protest the population kept the door closed in Haiti...

Meanwhile, from the early hours of the morning, a team from the National Directorate of Investigations set up an area to identify Haitians entering Dominican territory, but as Haiti keeps its door closed, these preparations remain useless...

For his part, the migration coordinator in Dajabón, Elio Uceta, confirmed that at the commercial level the door was open to allow Haitians to buy goods, but specified that at the immigration level it remains closed.
