iciHaiti - FAd’H : Training of around thirty officers and non-commissioned officers
The Ministry of Defense, in partnership with the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), organized training for senior executives of the National Guard Unit of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H ). Around thirty officers and non-commissioned officers participated in this activity focused on Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law and gender equity following the request made by Prime Minister a.i. Henry, to the Integrated Office of United Nations in Haiti (BINUH).

The main objective is to train the military in issues relating to the defense and protection of human rights. It also aims to provide soldiers with the necessary tools that can enable them to effectively fulfill their tasks when carrying out military missions.

For his part, Colonel Jean Robert Gabriel, speaking on behalf of the High Staff, encouraged the participants to take advantage of this training to reinforce in them the feeling that in all circumstances they must inspire confidence in their fellow citizens. They must be examples of respect for human rights.

Regarding gender equity, the Colonel stressed that the Ministry of Defense and the Haitian Armed Forces have made considerable progress in this area since remobilization. He specified that during the first recruitment of executives, almost half of the officers were women and that 23% of recruits were women.

Participants expressed their satisfaction after completing the two days of training. Soon they will have to repeat this training to soldiers.
