iciHaiti - Demonstrations : Note from the union to the police officers

Following the numerous movements of all kinds announced in the media and social networks, which are starting to put many people on the streets, the National Police of Haiti Union (SPNH-17) in a circumstantial note asks the police officers to remain professionals, reminding them that "[...] only the law must be their compass. Police officers are not required to enforce an illegal order that would force them to shoot protesters or prevent them from demonstrating, because protest is a right guaranteed by the Constitution and International Conventions for all people around the world.

Police must continue to protect lives and prevent vandalism wherever they can.

SPNH-17, the Police Union, reminds police officers that 2024 is the year to demand that they have equipment such as : helmets, bulletproof vests, good weapons and ammunition, helicopters and good armored vehicles for operations intended to break the gang base [...]"
