The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) informs that it has dispatched to Jacmel, a Commission, made up of General Inspectors of the National Education Administration, responsible for shedding light on the cases alleged sexual abuse, abuse of public property and abuse of authority recorded at the Public University of the South-East in Jacmel (UPSEJ).

This investigation was carried out following the report sent to the MENFP by the UPSEJ rectorate dated September 26, 2023 and the preliminary investigations carried out since then.

Pending assessment of the results of the Commission of Inquiry, the Ministry deemed it necessary to temporarily suspend from their functions the executives of the public university of the South-East in Jacmel (UPSEJ) cited in these cases.

The MENFP remains determined to work to improve the governance of departmental public universities (UPD), institutions for the decentralization of public higher education in Haiti.
