Sunday January 21, two days after the kidnapping in Haiti of a group of 8 people, including 6 nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of Sainte-Anne https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-41473-haiti-flash-6-nuns-kidnapped.html , Pope Francis, at the end of the Angelus prayer declared:

"I learned with pain the news of the kidnapping in Haiti of a group of people, including six nuns, [...] While urging their release, I pray for social harmony in the country. I invite everyone to stop the violence that is causing so much suffering to this dear population."

The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of 3 million US dollars from the nuns' relatives in exchange for their release.
