iciHaiti - NOTICE : A counterfeit medicine is circulating in Haiti

The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) advises the general population and health professionals in particular that a counterfeit medicine sold under the name "FADA Fenobarbital" is circulating in Haiti.

This counterfeit product targeted by this alert, labeled "Fenobarbital sodico, IM/IV, 200mg/2ml" is presented in a transparent vial, covered with a double white label with letters printed in red. In reference to the primary packaging written in Spanish.

The Ministry specifies that:

- The name of the laboratory "NFADA PHARMA" is not registered in Haiti;

- The batch number (1372) and expiration date (12/2025) indicated on the label have no traceability in Haiti.

The use of falsified "Fenobarbital sodico, IM/IV, 200mg/2ml" may result in erroneous and ineffective treatment as well as other serious health risks due to the conditions of use which may, in certain circumstances, lead to life in danger.

The Ministry invites users to obtain their supplies exclusively from authorized pharmaceutical establishments (list on the MSPP website) and calls on the Population to be vigilant.

The purchase, distribution, sale and use of this counterfeit medicine meeting the characteristics mentioned is strictly prohibited on the national territory.

The Ministry urges health professionals and consumers in general to report any incident relating to pharmacovigilance to the Health Directorate of their respective jurisdiction for any appropriate immediate administrative action.
