iciHaiti - Humanitarian : Europe releases an additional 200,000 euros

In response to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Haiti caused by the recent outbreak of gang violence, the European Union has released 200,000 euros in additional humanitarian funds to help the most affected populations. This assistance will directly benefit more than 11,000 people in the west of the country.

These European funds will allow the Haitian Red Cross to provide emergency aid to populations displaced by insecurity. Assistance will include the provision of health care, including first aid, ambulance services and psychological support. In addition, the distribution of hygiene items and sanitation kits, and hygiene promotion campaigns are planned.

This funding is part of the overall EU contribution to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF).

These funds are in addition to the 20 million euros in humanitarian aid that the EU has allocated in 2024 for Haiti.
