iciHaiti - Environment : Illegal occupation of protected areas
The Directorate of Inspection and Environmental Surveillance (DISE) of the Ministry of the Environment, in collaboration with the Commissariat and the City Hall of Pétion-ville, conducted an inspection tour this week in the localities of Pèlerin and Diègue, located in the commune of Pétion-Ville.

This approach follows an invitation from civil society in these areas, wishing to alert the authorities to the environmental damage caused by illegal occupants in protected areas.

The objective of this tour was to raise awareness among local populations and civil society about illegal constructions in these areas declared "protected areas", which represent a danger for the surrounding communities.

According to local residents, these constructions must be stopped urgently.

The illegal occupation of protected areas remains a major source of concern for the Conille government and in particular for the Minister of the Environment, Moïse Fils Jean Pierre.
