The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) reminds the public in general, and all organized sectors of national life, in particular that, by Order taken in Council of Ministers on September 30, 2024, the state of security emergency was renewed for the period from October 3rd to November 3rd, 2024.

The state of security emergency authorizes the Government to strengthen security measures and to establish special security measures throughout the national territory. Thus, demonstrations on public roads are strictly prohibited ; the carrying of firearms is only authorized for law enforcement officers on duty, any other person found red-handed carrying firearms being in violation of the law, incurs all the legal consequences that this entails.

The Haitian National Police (PNH) is formally instructed to take all appropriate measures to scrupulously apply, against all odds, the measures related to the state of security emergency. As for the Prosecutors' Offices of the 18 jurisdictions of the Republic, they are urged to put public action in motion against any offender.

The Ministry is relying on the understanding and collaboration of the population to facilitate the implementation of the state of emergency, while inviting them, once again, to support the public security forces, in particular the PNH, in their efforts to neutralize armed gangs and all other forms of criminal organizations that endanger the lives and property of citizens.
