As part of the General Assembly of the Association of Caribbean Universities, "Caribbean Universities", (formerly called UNICA) held in Barranquilla, Colombia, on November 25, 2024 at the Simon Bolivar University, Fritz Deshommes, Rector of the State University of Haiti, was unanimously elected as a member of the Executive Committee of "Caribbean Universities."

The candidacy of Rector Deshommes was proposed by Dr. Francis de Lanoy, Rector of the University of Curaçao and seconded by Dr. Patricia Martinez Barrios, Vice-Rector of the UNIMINUTO University of Colombia.
