Jean-Michel Moïse, the Minister of Defense, received Jesús Cisneros, the Chargé d’Affaires of Mexico, for a meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation.

Minister Moïse expressed Haiti’s gratitude to Mexico and presented the main points of the Vertières Base rehabilitation project, the future training center of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAs’H).

This project includes, the starting in January 2025, of an intensive training program for 700 new recruits, as part of a modernization of military capabilities.

The discussions also focused on the creation of a professional officer corps, aimed at professionalizing and modernizing the FAd’H.

Cisneros reaffirmed Mexico’s commitment to supporting Haiti in its reform and institutional strengthening efforts.

This meeting confirms the strength of the strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of defense and security and constitutes a step forward in the consolidation of bilateral relations between Haiti and Mexico for the benefit of regional security and stability.
