Due to the serious damage and catastrophic consequences caused by torrential rains and floods in the city of Port-de-Paix and its surroundings, the Port-de-Paix City Hall has decided to declare a state of environmental emergency throughout the territory of the municipality.

In a partial report from the Civil Protection Directorate dated December 23, the floods in Port-de-Paix caused 7 deaths and 10 serious injuries. 11,000 homes, shops, businesses were flooded, a hundred houses were destroyed by the waters and 500 others were seriously damaged...

"This decision is taken to protect the population, limit the risk of further damage and respond more quickly to urgent needs.

We remind you that the safety and well-being of each citizen is our top priority. The Port-de-Paix City Hall remains determined to manage this crisis with competence and courage. We invite everyone to continue to show solidarity and help their neighbors.

The municipality is committed to working tirelessly to minimize the consequences of this tragedy. We remind everyone that collective safety is our priority and that it is only with the collaboration of each citizen that we can rebuild a stronger Port-de-Paix.
