iciHaiti - Sports : 2024 Report of the Haitian Basketball Federation

The year 2024 was marked by considerable challenges for Haiti, including a worrying deterioration in the security situation. However, thanks to the resilience and dedication of the leaders of the Haitian Basketball Federation (FHB), the latter was able to meet these challenges.

Despite the obstacles, the FHB maintained a rich and varied calendar, ranging from training to national and international competitions :

Internationally, Haiti brilliantly represented the Caribbean in 3x3 basketball, finishing the year in 10th position in America and 3rd in the Caribbean region.

Activities carried out in 2024 :

1. 3x3 referee training in Grande-Rivière-du-Nord (May 4 and 5);

2. Series of 5x5 referee training in the North :

- June 16 : Limonade;

- June 29 and July 6 : Trou-du-Nord;

- July 20 and 21 : Limbé;

- August 3 and 4 : Ouanaminthe.

3. 5x5 referee refresher training in Saint-Louis de Gonzague, Port-au-Prince (October 12-26).

4. Certification in nutrition and sports activity for two executives: Jocenel Joseph and Christie Rebecca Pierre (May 2024).

5. FIBA ​​statistician certification obtained by Mike Joseph, a first for the FHB (October 31).

National Competitions :

5x5

- Super 8 U-20, Port-au-Prince : June 23 - August 18. Champion: Team Christ-Roi;

- Super 8 U-20, Cap-Haitien : October 26 - November 30. Champion: Limbé Basketball.

3x3

- April 20 : CACAO 3x3 at Collège Lamartinière;

- May 1st : Ti Plas Kazoo 3x3 in Delmas 33;

- May 9 and 10 : Women's tournament in Christ-Roi;

- May 18 : Tournaments in Fermathe, Delmas 33, and Pétion-Ville.

- June 9 : Tournament in Saint-Louis de Gonzague;

- June 15 : Tournament in the schools of Pétion-Ville;

- June 16 : Women's Super 6 tournament;

- June 28-30 : Tournament in Christ-Roi;

- September 21 : Back to School in Saint-Louis de Gonzague;

- Divas 3x3 : Women's tournament in 8 days (2 days completed).

International Competitions :

1. Preparation of the national 3x3 selection for the Americup (December 8-11).

2. Participation of the senior men's selection in the Americup 3x3 (December 12-15).

Other Achievements :

- Participation in the sports day of Quisqueya University (September 3).

- Creation of the Okap 3x3 League.

- Final ranking in 3x3 basketball : 10th in America, 3rd in the Caribbean.

This report highlights the many achievements of the FHB, despite the complex context of the country. The Federation reaffirms its commitment to using basketball as a tool for social transformation and national unity.
