iciHaiti - Elections : PM visits CEP
Determined to respect the transition agenda, to guarantee the stability and democratic sovereignty of Haiti, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé visited this week the members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). This meeting aimed to take stock of the arrangements in place for the organization of the Constitutional referendum and the upcoming general elections.

Let's recall that "normally" the referendum on the Constitution should take place mid-May 2025 at the latest; the first round of general elections (presidential, legislative and municipal) around mid-November 2025 and the second round in January 2026, for the installation of a new Government on February 7, 2026...

With deep respect for the institutions of the Republic, Fils-Aimé met with the Electoral Advisors who are responsible for organizing free, honest and credible elections throughout the country and strongly recalled that the CEP, as an independent institution, must do everything possible to guarantee the Haitian people a transparent and democratic electoral process.

However, aware that organizing elections cannot be done outside of a secure climate, the Prime Minister reaffirmed with determination that his primary mission is to guarantee the security that the Haitian people demand. Faced with insecurity, the Head of Government affirmed that he would put all his weight into the balance to provide a lasting and definitive solution to this scourge.
