iciHaiti - Taiwan : Sustainable growth, abundant rice harvests
In Haiti, the journey from rice transplanting to a successful harvest is a matter of dedication and resilience. Once farmers complete the meticulous task of transplanting, effective crop management and fertilization become essential.

To ensure that rice crops planted by Haitian farmers receive the nutrients the crop needs during the critical tillering (shoot multiplication) phase, the Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM), Republic of China, provides farmers with fertilizer loans. This vital support allows farmers to apply fertilizer at the optimal time, helping plants grow vigorously and laying the foundation for a bountiful harvest.

Beyond providing high-quality fertilizer, the Rice Production Improvement Project advocates for rational fertilization, a practice that emphasizes precise timing and balanced application to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

TTM also guides farmers in reusing agricultural by-products such as straw and rice husks, transforming them into organic compost or biochar (organic charcoal). This initiative optimizes resource use and promotes sustainability, ensuring that every element of the harvest cycle contributes to long-term agricultural prosperity.

Despite the security challenges in Haiti, particularly in the Artibonite Valley, TTM and its official partners remain steadfast. Through strategic planning and adaptive logistics, they overcome obstacles to ensure the safe and timely delivery of essential agricultural raw materials. Even in the face of adversity, the mission successfully completes each fertilizer distribution, remaining steadfast in its commitment to Haitian farmers.

For these farmers, receiving and applying fertilizer is more than just a farming task: it is a symbol of hope, resilience, and the promise of abundance. With unwavering dedication, they cultivate their fields and also their future.

The Taiwan Technical Mission to Haiti will continue to walk alongside them, promoting food security and paving the way for lasting social and economic stability.
