iciHaiti - Boat People : 99 Haitians repatriated to Cap-Haïtien
On Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, the crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Seneca (WMEC-906) repatriated 99 Haitians to Haiti following a report from Customs and Border Protection air and maritime operations of an overloaded, approximately 10-meter suspicious boat heading north toward the Turks and Caicos Islands.

After their safe interception and transfer to the Seneca, the Haitians were screened and identified. They received food and basic medical care before their repatriation to Haiti.

The Coast Guard, in collaboration with its partners in Homeland Security Task Force Southeast, maintains a continuous presence through air, land, and maritime assets. This combined, multifaceted approach aims to protect life at sea while preventing illegal maritime entry into the United States and its territories.

Anyone attempting to enter the United States illegally by sea will be intercepted and repatriated in accordance with U.S. law and policy.
