As part of the nationwide road infrastructure modernization effort, the Ministry of Public Works has undertaken rehabilitation work on National Road 4 (RN4), also known as the Route de l'Amitié, which connects Carrefour Dufort, in the commune of Léogâne, to the city of Jacmel.

This major project, financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), will span over an 12-month period. Specifically, the work covers a 45-km section, with an average roadway width of 6.50 meters. The project, awarded to Vorbe & Fils Construction, represents a major step forward in strengthening connectivity between two major urban centers in the South-East and West Departments.

The main planned interventions include :
• Upgrading the existing roadbed;
• Resurfacing and strengthening the asphalt concrete surface course; • Rehabilitation of engineering structures, as well as sanitation and drainage systems, including the cleaning of ditches and outlets, as well as the straightening of riverbeds.
