iciHaiti - Dajabón : Haitian merchants chased from sidewalks and streets
As part of an ongoing plan to prevent road obstructions, unauthorized trade, and the deterioration of public spaces, Santiago Riverón, the mayor of Dajabón, launched an operation with the municipal police to clear out all Haitian merchants selling their wares on the streets and sidewalks, where they are illegally occupying public spaces.

Riverón believes that anyone wishing to trade should go to the border market, as he no longer wants a single Haitian selling their wares on the city's sidewalks and streets.

He warned that if a merchant fails to comply with this measure, "we will seize their merchandise and incinerate it."

The City Hall specified that in addition to the expulsion of merchants, controls will be tightened on all Haitian vehicles entering the municipality of Dajabón, which must have the proper documentation in order to travel within Dominican territory.
