On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, following a police operation in the Nan Zonbi neighborhood, south of the city of Cap-Haïtien, five members of a local gang, including "Dessalines," the lower right-hand man of Chief Koulou, were fatally injured. A police officer was also wounded in the thigh during the operation.

Several firearms and ammunition were recovered.

According to Divisional Inspector Arol Jean, spokesperson for the National Police of the North, this gang specializes in land grabbing, kidnappings, and assassinations. He noted that several operations had already been conducted in this hard-to-reach area.

The police of the North plan to conduct operations in several other areas deemed dangerous.
