iciHaiti - Dominican Republic : 6 thematic round tables will debate the Haitian crisis
The Economic and Social Council (CES), as general coordinator of the consultation, announced that the six thematic roundtables of the "Dialogue on the Haitian Crisis and its Implications for the Dominican Republic" will begin on June 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the University of the Caribbean (Santo Domingo).

The roundtables will address the themes of migration, bilateral trade, border community development, national security, international relations, and labor issues.

The CES also indicated that fourteen delegates—two from the Government, two from each former president, and two from each CES sector (social, labor, and business), will compose the initial working groups for each thematic panel. Key stakeholders and experts, possibly proposed by the delegates, will be added in due course.

It explained that each panel will also be led by a moderator and two rapporteurs appointed by the Council.

Regarding the working methodology, he explained that representatives of the government and former presidents will provide a background document and a guide of questions that will serve as the basis for intensive and simultaneous discussions in the thematic panels, which are expected to last up to one month.

Similarly, the CES announced the launch of a public consultation on Monday, the 23rd, via the "OpinaRD" platform and the email address " propuestasdialogo@ces.gob.do ". This will ensure the digital participation of all citizens, including Dominicans abroad, who will be able to submit their opinions, comments, points of view, proposals, and documents during the first fifteen days following the opening of the roundtables.

The CES reiterated its commitment to consensus and the search for concrete solutions on issues of national interest.
