"Dear Haitians,

As I conclude my duties as Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Haiti, it is with great emotion that I address these words to you.

Haiti is a country that has deeply touched me with the warmth of its people, their courage, and their determination to move forward despite challenges. I have met women and men from all horizons, bearers of hope, ideas, and an unwavering will to build a better future for those who will come after them.

The Haitian people carry a unique heritage inherited from your ancestors, which endures in the depths of the souls of the men and women of Haiti. This legacy is not only a heroic memory to be proud of; it is the spirit of Haiti, moving forward, toward the utopia that allows us to move forward, to build the country you must dream of together because it is possible : a more equitable and united Haiti, a Haiti of peace, justice, and unity. This construction belongs only to you.

I leave with a heart filled with respect and affection for this magnificent country and its people. I will always remember the smiles, the sincere exchanges, the constructive criticism, and the power of your culture and identity, which is your strength.

The United Nations remains at your side, convinced that Haiti will overcome obstacles.
