iciHaiti - Port-au-Prince : Launch of the psychosocial support project for adolescents who witness or are victims of violence...

As part of the launch of the psychosocial support and social reintegration project for adolescent witnesses and/or victims of violence, the Port-au-Prince City Council, represented by Allwitch Joly, Chief of Staff of the President of the Municipal Commission, Ralph Youri Chevry, renewed its commitment to youth affected by violence and forced displacement.

Organized by Solidarity Fanm Ayisyèn (SOFA), this project aims to provide structured psychosocial support and concrete opportunities for social reintegration to adolescents exposed to violence related to insecurity in the metropolitan area. This is an urgent response to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, which particularly affects children and youth.

"The security situation in the municipality of Port-au-Prince is critical. Our children are the first victims of this violence. It is our moral and institutional responsibility to act immediately and in a coordinated manner," declared the Chief of Staff during his speech.

Faced with the magnitude of the challenges, the City of Port-au-Prince announced the establishment, in partnership with the Institute for Social Welfare and Research (IBSR), of an Inter-institutional Monitoring and Coordination Committee dedicated to child protection. This committee will monitor actions, collect data, provide strategic direction for interventions, and produce evaluation reports.

"We need a sustainable, ethical, and inclusive system to protect our children. This committee will operate on the principles of collegiality, accountability, confidentiality, and non-discrimination," stated the Chief of Staff.

The City of Port-au-Prince welcomed SOFA's initiative and the involvement of institutional and financial partners, calling for collective mobilization around this vital issue.

"There is still time to act, to rebuild, and to offer these young people a dignified future, where they will not be seen only as victims, but as agents of change," concluded the Chief of Staff.
