iciHaiti - Dominican Rep. : Operations to intercept illegal Haitians will intensify

During a tour of the Directorate General of Immigration (DGM) facilities in Elías Piña and Dajabón, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester, Director General of the DGM, urged foreigners in an irregular migration situation in Dominican territory to leave the country voluntarily, as interception operations will continue to intensify, particularly in border provinces.

He announced the incorporation of 300 new rapid response agents, bringing the total to 1,000 active agents, in accordance with the central government's directive to strengthen immigration control throughout the country.

"Thanks to this new personnel, trained in theory and practice, we are now operational in 19 provinces."

A facial recognition system is currently being tested, which will strengthen biometric and technological controls, particularly in binational markets.

Furthermore, the DGM is working on a resolution aimed at establishing formal registration and identification procedures for foreigners involved in cross-border trade.
